I want to share important info regarding our Rebel Rendezvous in Red Raider Country scheduled for October 18th and 19th. I have secured blocks of rooms at two hotels in Lubbock. They are just block away from each other and close to most of our weekend activities. Rooms are available October 17th, 18th and 19th for those of you who would like to come a day early. Both hotels are under the group name Tascosa High School Class of '70. If you're a TTU grad and haven't been to Lubbock in a while you're in for a pleasant shock.

ACTIVITIES

Rebel Rooftop Rendezvous                     5 pm to 7:30 pm

OK, get ready for a really awesome Happy Hour and Rebel Reception at the Rooftop Bar.  It’s the brainchild of the Lubbock’s Blue Mesa Grill that is on the first floor of a swanky parking garage north of TTU’s Jones AT&T Stadium.  The Rooftop offers a spectacular view of “The Jones”, the TTU campus and incredible West Texas sunsets. 

Blue Mesa will have 6 different delicious hor douvers.  Yummy!  Check it out on Face Book – Rooftop Bar at Raider Park.

Rooftop $25.00 per person – cash bar

Cactus Theater                                8 pm to 10 pm

After the Rooftop we’ll head to the famous Cactus Theater in the Depot District for a great show.  We’re working to bring THS grad, J.D. Souther, that evening, but it’s too early to know.  Regardless, it’ll be a lot of fun!

Saturday-October 19^th

Breakfast at the Ranch - 10:00 am to 12 noon

If you’ve never been to the National Ranching Heritage Center, you’re in for a treat. It is an open-air museum of ranching history. It features almost fifty authentic ranch buildings dating from the late 18th to mid-20th century. These structures include a railroad depot, homesteads, barn, schoolhouse, windmills and other historic structures.  You can see and experience this by going to www.nrhc.ttu.edu.  There is no charge to tour the RHC, but a small contribution of a dollar of two is encouraged.  A Continental breakfast of coffee, juice, pastries, fruit and other good stuff will be waiting for you at the Ranch.  $10.00 for Continental Breakfast

Lunch with Buddy 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

You can’t visit Lubbock without paying homage to the man who inspired the Beatles -- Buddy Holly.  The Buddy Holly Center is housed in the old Lubbock railroad station in the Depot District.  There you find a ton of cool Buddy stuff including his famous horned-rimmed glasses that were recovered at the site of his fatal plane crash.  Go to www.buddyhollycenter.org for more info and to see more Buddy stuff.    We’ll have a tasty box lunch waiting for you after you mingle with Buddy.   We’ll eat in the Courtyard of the Center.  There is no charge to tour the Buddy Holly Center, but a small contribution of a dollar of two is encouraged.

BBQ and Boot Scooting @ Cagle’s   -  6:00 pm

It takes a little while to get there so allow plenty of time to get to Cagle’s.  We’ll have a private room filled with great music provided by a DJ who has guaranteed to play lots of our music, plus plenty of C&W.  We’ll be served 3 different BBQ delights, tater salad, cole slaw, beans, all the traditional fix ins and cobbler. Cagle’s BBQ Dinner, Entertainment and Gratuity - $40.00

We hope you will make plans to attend all the events at the Rebel Rendezvous in Raider Land.   The total per person cost for all events is $120.00.  Please make your check payable to THS Reunion/Lubbock; and send to 5305 86^th Street, Lubbock, TX 79424. Please include a phone number and e-address with your payment.  We must have your money no later than Monday, October 7, 2013.
